This unapologetic Double West Coast IPA commands attention with an intense, layered hop profile. Explosive aromatics of resinous pine and dank earthiness lead the charge, closely followed by bright layers of citrus zest and lush tropical fruit. The sensory foundation is built on clean, supportive malted barley, providing just enough structure to carry the massive hop load without veering into cloying sweetness. On the palate, a bold, assertive bitterness takes center stage, finishing exceptionally dry and crisp. The 8.8% ABV provides a smooth, well-integrated warmth that enhances the beer’s formidable and satisfyingly bitter character, typical of a powerhouse Strong American Ale.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (SRM 7-9). Features a persistent, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing. Brilliant clarity with a slight shimmer.
Aroma. High intensity hop bouquet featuring resinous pine, dank cannabis-like notes, and grapefruit peel. Secondary notes of mango and pineapple emerge. Malt aroma is low and neutral, reminiscent of light grain. Fermentation is clean with a very subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of hop flavor—pine needles, citrus oil, and tropical passionfruit. Bitterness is very high but smooth, avoiding harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive backdrop of light toasted bread. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, leaving a long-lasting, resinous bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively scrub. A distinct but refined alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its strength. No astringency.
