This Heritage Series Dark Mild is a masterclass in sessionable complexity, leveraging a sophisticated blend of seven different malts to deliver depth far beyond its modest 3.5% ABV. The sensory profile is defined by a comforting interplay of rich toffee sweetness and gentle chocolate notes, evolving into a delicate roasty finish. Evoking the classic British pub experience, it presents a mahogany hue with a soft tan head. While the malt provides the core structure, a subtle yeast-derived fruitiness adds layers of plum and raisin, making this a perfect fireside companion that remains incredibly refreshing and light on the palate.
Appearance. Mahogany to dark brown (18-24 SRM) with excellent clarity. Topped by a low, creamy, light tan head with moderate retention.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring prominent notes of toffee, milk chocolate, and toasted bread. Subtle yeast-derived esters of plum and raisin are present. Earthy hop aroma is very low, allowing the complex malt bill to lead.
Taste. Initial malt sweetness leads with toffee and caramel flavors. The mid-palate reveals layers of cocoa and nutty toastiness. Low bitterness provides just enough balance to prevent cloying, while the finish is smooth with a light, lingering roasted grain character and a hint of dark fruit.
