Redneck Brewery Captain Spaulding Spelt DDH IPA
This American IPA presents a vibrant sensory profile driven by intensive Double Dry Hopping. The Citra hops unleash a prominent burst of grapefruit, lime zest, and tropical mango, while the Loral hops contribute delicate layers of lavender, wildflowers, and a touch of herbal spice. The inclusion of spelt adds a rustic, nutty grain character that supports the hop-forward balance without overshadowing it. The palate follows the nose, delivering sharp citrus and floral notes over a clean, lean malt base. It finishes dry with a lingering, resinous bitterness, showcasing a modern hop profile that remains exceptionally crisp and drinkable.
Appearance. Medium gold color (approx. 7 SRM) with a slight, soft haze from the spelt and dry-hopping. Features a medium-sized, brilliant white, creamy head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring Citra-driven grapefruit and passion fruit. Loral adds a distinct floral layer of lavender and wildflowers, supported by a subtle peppery spice. Low, clean, grainy maltiness with a hint of nutty spelt character and no diacetyl.
Taste. Strong hop flavor led by Citra-derived citrus and tropical fruit. Loral hops introduce an elegant herbal and floral complexity in the mid-palate. Moderate-high bitterness is clean and sharp. The malt profile is low but supportive, offering a grainy, slightly toasted spelt flavor. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering citrus and resinous aftertaste.
