This unique collaboration between ReCraft and Browar Gryfus reimagines the classic German Pils through a modern, continental lens. Utilizing the distinct African Queen hop variety, the sensory profile shifts from traditional floral notes to a vibrant bouquet of red and black fruits, bright citrus, and nuanced iced tea. The crisp Pilsner malt base provides a lean, grainy foundation that supports a refreshing, tart interplay introduced by the addition of baobab fruit. This addition lends a subtle, dry astringency that cuts through the fruit-forward hop character, resulting in a complex, bone-dry, and highly sessionable lager that balances international flair with European tradition.
Appearance.Straw to pale yellow (3 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma.Moderate-high hop intensity featuring prominent blackcurrant, raspberry, and citrus zest. Underlying notes of herbal iced tea and a faint, tart fruitiness from baobab. Low grainy-sweet and doughy malt presence. Very clean fermentation profile.
Taste.Crisp and dry. Initial soft, grainy malt is rapidly overtaken by a firm hop bitterness and flavors of dark berries and lemon peel. The baobab fruit provides a light, refreshing acidity and a pleasant, slightly tannic bite. Finishes very clean and dry with a lingering herbal hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel.Medium-light body with high carbonation that creates a prickly, refreshing sensation. Very low astringency from the baobab and hops, with no perceived alcohol warmth.
