Rubik by Rec Brew is a modern interpretation of a West Coast IPA, showcasing a vibrant interplay between classic and contemporary hops. The aroma leads with the resinous pine and spicy grapefruit characteristic of Chinook, layered with the multifaceted profile of Strata, which introduces notes of tropical passion fruit and a subtle herbal dankness. On the palate, a clean, grainy malt backbone supports a firm bitterness that remains refreshing and crisp. Flavors of dried strawberry and citrus zest dominate the mid-palate, transitioning into a snappy, dry finish. This medium-bodied American IPA balances its 6.2% alcohol with high carbonation, creating a bright and aromatically complex sensory experience.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (7-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing.

Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent resinous pine and grapefruit from Chinook, layered with tropical passion fruit, dried strawberry, and a distinct 'dank' herbal character from Strata. Low, clean, grainy malt character provides a neutral base with no perceptible yeast esters.

Taste. Hop-forward flavor mirroring the aroma, with grapefruit rind and spicy pine leading into tropical fruit complexity. Moderate-high bitterness provides a structural snap without harshness. The malt flavor is low and bready, allowing the hop oils to dominate. Finish is dry and clean with a lingering resinous and citrusy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is very light, smooth, and well-integrated.

Rubik es una cerveza de color dorado tirando a pajizo, donde destaca una abundante espuma de color blanca y muy persistente en el vaso. En Aroma destacan las notas resinosas, a pino junto a aromas más tropicales procedentes del lúpulo Strata; y notas a cereales que proceden de las maltas usadas. Con el primer trago de cerveza, vamos a ver que está muy bien balanceada, sus 40 IBUs de amargor se encuentran muy bien integrados junto a las maltas y los lúpulos. Una West Coast IPA de trago fácil y largo, y que no hace falta ser celíaco para disfrutarla.
