Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 38); features a large, persistent light tan head with excellent lacing and fine bubble structure.
Aroma. High intensity roast aroma reminiscent of fresh-ground coffee and dark chocolate. Medium-low hop character presents as floral and citrusy Cascade notes. Low fruity esters and a hint of caramel sweetness under the roast.
Taste. Initial impression is deeply roasted with prominent bittersweet chocolate and coffee-like intensity. Medium malt sweetness provides a caramel backbone, balanced by a firm hop bitterness. Hop flavor is medium-low with citrus and pine resin notes. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, smooth roasted grain aftertaste.
