Rascals Brewing Co Krush Groove
Krush Groove is a vibrant American IPA that showcases a potent fusion of NZ hops, delivering an explosive sensory experience. The aroma is dominated by high-intensity notes of tropical passionfruit and bright citrus, characteristic of premium Southern Hemisphere varieties. On the palate, a clean, grainy malt backbone provides the necessary structure to support a firm, resinous bitterness. This collaboration between Rascals and Yeastie Boys finishes medium-dry with a lingering citrus zest aftertaste. At 7% ABV, it offers a well-integrated, smooth warmth that enhances the medium-bodied texture, resulting in a balanced yet decidedly hop-forward profile that remains refreshing despite its strength.
Appearance. Deep gold (approx. 7 SRM); dense, persistent white head with excellent lacing; clear with a very slight, permissible haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pronounced tropical fruit (passionfruit, guava) and sharp citrus (lime zest, grapefruit). Low, clean, crackery malt sweetness resides in the background. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical hop flavor followed by an assertive, clean bitterness. The malt character is low and grainy, allowing the NZ hops to dominate. Bitterness is medium-high but lacks harshness. The finish is dry and crisp with a long, hoppy aftertaste of citrus and pine.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. There is a light, smooth alcohol warmth consistent with its strength.
