Ras L'Bock Double Double is a bold Double IPA that amplifies both the grain bill and the aromatic punch of its hop profile. It showcases an intense concentration of Citra hops, radiating vibrant tropical aromas of mango, lime, and passion fruit. While the double ration of malt provides a sturdy, clean backbone to support the 8.4% ABV, the balance remains firmly directed toward the hops. This beer delivers a smooth concentration of citrus-forward flavors that complement the firm bitterness with lush fruitiness. It exemplifies the style's goal of high drinkability despite its strength, finishing dry and clean with a lingering, resinous tropical afterglow.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper with a slight haze. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma dominated by Citra, featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, crushed lime, and ripe mango. A clean, neutral, and slightly grainy maltiness sits in the background, accompanied by light fruity esters and a subtle hint of clean alcohol.
