Range Brewing

Upon Reflection is a brilliantly executed American IPA that exemplifies the modern West Coast style through a vibrant hop quartet of Mosaic Cryo, Citra, Centennial, and Nectaron. The sensory profile is headlined by a punchy aroma of white peach and zesty lemon rind, layered with Mosaic-driven blueberry and sharp grapefruit. The palate delivers an even deeper stone fruit intensity and candied citrus, supported by a lean, neutral malt base. An assertive, pithy bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit zest provides a crisp, refreshing finish, ensuring the complex tropical and resinous notes remain balanced and drinkable throughout.

Appearance. Medium gold (6-8 SRM) with brilliant, sparkling clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, long-lasting white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of white peach, lemon rind, and grapefruit. Distinctive secondary notes of blueberry and a hint of pine resin are present, supported by a low, clean, grainy-sweet malt character and a neutral fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with intense flavors of peach, stone fruit, and candied citrus. The mid-palate introduces a pithy grapefruit character that leads into a medium-high to high bitterness. Malt flavor is low and clean, providing a crackery backdrop that allows the hops to shine. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering, clean bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, enhancing the refreshing quality. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, but there is no harshness or astringency.

Upon reflection, this might be one of our favourite Westys so far this year!
