This decadent Imperial Stout presents a masterful fusion of confectionary richness and refined barrel character. Heady aromas of boozy whisky and vinous ex-sherry lead, immediately followed by the deep, earthy scent of Dutch cocoa derived from roasted cacao nibs. The palate mirrors the Cadbury Creme Egg inspiration, where creamy lactose provides a lush, silky foundation for intertwining layers of dark chocolate and fragrant vanilla beans. While the 10.7% ABV offers a sophisticated warmth, the underlying malt structure provides a roasty, bittersweet counterpoint to the indulgent sweetness, finishing with a lingering complexity of oak and spirit-soaked dark fruit.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant viscosity, leaving oily legs on the glass as it swirled.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of boozy whisky, spiritous ex-sherry, and rich Dutch cocoa. Prominent vanilla bean sweetness and dark chocolate malt notes dominate, supported by a hint of dark fruit and roasted coffee.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet and creamy, reminiscent of chocolate fondant. Deep layers of roasted cacao nibs and vanilla beans intertwine with charred oak and grain-forward whisky notes. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit and nutty sherry character. Bitterness is moderate but balanced by heavy lactose. The finish is long and sweet with a lingering cocoa and spirit warmth.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and viscous with a thick, chewy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth provides a velvety, luxurious mouthfeel without being harsh.

Warm boozy notes of whisky and sherry circle the glass as you stick your nose in, with a rich dutch cocoa aroma backing up the barrel character. The first sip is like biting right into a Creme Egg. layer of chocolate and vanilla intertwine, all supported by rich whisky and a hint of that sherry in the background. The finish is sweet to begin with thanks to the lactose, but is then cleaned up by a light roasty bitterness at the end to ensure that it’s moreish and not too cloying. What was once laying dormant in barrels has now been resurrected into something truly incredible.
