Range Brewing's Polarity is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases the expressive potential of New Zealand hops. Dominating the profile is the Pacifica variety, which provides intense aromas of orange citrus and rich marmalade. This is complemented by the addition of Motueka, lending a subtle tropical complexity. On the palate, expect a concentrated burst of orange cordial and mandarin zest, creating a deeply fruity experience. The malt profile is kept neutral and bready to allow the Kiwi hops to shine, leading into a finish defined by tropical softness and a light, lingering sweetness. Smooth and approachable, it represents a focused exploration of citrus-forward southern hemisphere hop character.
Appearance. Straw to light orange in color (SRM 4-6) with an opaque, hazy clarity that creates a luminous glow. It features a persistent, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma defined by punchy orange citrus, mandarin, and sweet marmalade from the Pacifica. Background notes of tropical fruit and lime zest from Motueka are present. Malt is low and neutral, offering a light grainy or bready scent with no caramel or toastiness.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of fruit, specifically orange cordial and mandarin zest. Malt flavors are low and supportive with a soft, bready character. Hop bitterness is moderate but perceived as low due to the full body and soft finish. The aftertaste is smooth and clean, lacking any harshness or vegetal notes, and ends with a pleasant tropical sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and absolutely no astringency.
