Tahitian vanilla and lactose contribute a floral creaminess that smooths the intense roasted malt character of dark chocolate and coffee. Appearance. SRM 40; jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a dense, creamy tan head showing moderate retention. High viscosity is evident through thick legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; bold notes of sweet maple syrup and aromatic cinnamon dominate. Secondary layers of bittersweet chocolate and roasted grain provide depth. Subtle floral vanilla and a sweet, creamy lactose scent are present, with very low dark fruit esters and negligible hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet with maple syrup and vanilla cream. The mid-palate features rich chocolate and toasted malt flavors that provide a necessary roasted counterpoint. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as low due to the high residual sugar and lactose. The finish is long and warming with a distinctive cinnamon spice and lingering maple sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the creamy and decadent mouthfeel. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or solventy.
