This Hazy IPA is a saturated showcase of the Riwaka hop, utilizing Riwaka Amplifire and Eggers Riwaka to deliver an explosive sensory experience. It presents an opaque, creamy yellow hue, leading into an intense aromatic profile defined by pungent passionfruit, distinct diesel, and a heavy layer of dankness. On the palate, the experience is dominated by sticky passionfruit nectar and fleshy orange citrus, supported by a substantial body derived from generous additions of oats and wheat. The finish is smooth and fruit-forward, emphasizing the complex, resinous qualities of the Riwaka variety without any harshness or sharp bitterness.
Appearance. Pours a thick, opaque, and creamy yellow haze (approx. 4-5 SRM). Crowned by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with boisterous notes of passionfruit and a sharp, diesel-like dankness. Secondary notes of fleshy orange and tropical citrus are supported by a clean, lightly bready and grainy malt backbone. No caramel or toast is present.
Taste. Saturated hop flavors of sticky passionfruit pulp and nectar dominate the initial impression, followed by waves of fleshy orange citrus. A distinctive, clean dankness provides complexity. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, never harsh. The malt is low, contributing a simple bready character that allows the fruit to shine. Finishes soft and off-dry with lingering tropical notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable smoothness and soft texture provided by oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, but the finish remains creamy and free of astringency.
