Lost Weekend is a complex Black Rye IPA that masterfully balances a robust malt bill with a modern hop profile. The addition of rye malt provides a distinctive smoothness and a hint of spice, which integrates seamlessly with the underlying notes of chocolate and caramel malts. Aromatically, Citra and Mosaic hops unleash a wave of tropical fruit and citrus, while Simcoe adds a deep, resinous forest character. A solid 60 IBU bitterness drives the palate, ensuring the resinous and piney hop flavors remain front and center against the dark, roasted backdrop, concluding in a clean, lingering finish.

Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights at the edges; topped by a thick, persistent tan head that leaves significant lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit, mango, and passionfruit, backed by a resinous, piney forest quality. Low-to-moderate malt notes of dark bread crust, light cocoa, and a subtle peppery rye spice.

Taste. The flavor leads with aggressive citrus and tropical fruit hops, immediately followed by a firm, resinous bitterness. A supportive malt backbone provides flavors of light-roast coffee and chocolate without harshness, enriched by a spicy rye character. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering piney aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable silkiness and creaminess attributed to the rye malt. Moderate carbonation with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no harsh astringency.
