This Hazy IPA offers a surreal sensory experience where tropical hop vibrancy meets the refined elegance of Yellow Bourbon coffee. On the nose, Strata hops unleash a wave of passion fruit and strawberry, while Simcoe adds layers of bright grapefruit and earthy pine. These elements entwine with the nutty, chocolatey aroma of the specialty coffee from Minas Gerais. The palate follows suit, balancing juicy tropical fruit with a smooth, toasted bean character that remains bright and punchy. A soft, pillowy mouthfeel carries the complex flavors toward a clean, off-dry finish, showcasing the unique harmony between hop resin and roasted brilliance.
Appearance. Light amber to orange with a deep, opaque haze that provides a characteristic shine. It is topped by a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with tropical passion fruit and sweet berry from Strata, complemented by Simcoe's grapefruit and subtle pine needles. The Yellow Bourbon coffee provides a distinct but integrated layer of toasted nuts and milk chocolate. Low bready malt supports the profile without adding caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical fruit and citrus. Mid-palate, the Yellow Bourbon coffee introduces flavors of subtle cocoa and a smooth roasted quality. Hop bitterness is moderate and well-masked by the soft body, preventing any harshness. The finish is off-dry and lingering, with a clean aftertaste of fruit skin and light roast.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no detectable astringency or raw starch texture despite the coffee addition.
