Mild 5.5 º 30 IBU
This elevated take on a Dark Mild showcases a complex malt backbone defined by Maris Otter, Caramalt, and Crystal malts. The aroma is rich with toasted biscuit, nutty nuances, and soft toffee, complemented by a light fruity ester profile. On the palate, the Maris Otter delivers a substantial bready foundation, while the Caramalt and Crystal malts provide deep layers of caramel and raisins. At 5.5% ABV, this version offers a fuller presence than typical session ales, finishing with a balanced, sweet-leaning smoothness and a gentle, integrated warmth that lingers pleasantly alongside earthy hop notes.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with a slight haze due to being unfiltered. Supports a moderate, creamy off-white head with fair retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring rich bready and nutty malt notes from the Maris Otter. Layers of caramel and toffee are present, accompanied by very low earthy hop character and faint plum-like esters.
Taste. Initial impression is malt-forward and sweet. Dominant flavors of toasted bread, biscuit, and caramel blend with light notes of roasted nuts. Bitterness is low, serving only to balance the residual sweetness of the Caramalt. The finish is clean with a lingering toffee aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, notably fuller than standard session versions. Carbonation is moderate-low, providing a smooth, creamy texture. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is perceptible.
