Puro Veneno Cascabel presents itself as a sophisticated British Brown Ale with a signature cinnamon-colored head. The sensory experience is anchored by a complex malt foundation, weaving together aromas of toasted hazelnut, caramel, and a delicate touch of chocolate. On the palate, this 'Tónico' displays a nuanced sweetness characterized by notes of light-roast coffee, licorice, and dried prune. Despite its depth, the beer maintains high drinkability through a light body and restrained bitterness, finishing with a graceful balance between lingering sweetness and a clean dryness. It is a harmonious expression of malt complexity without the heavy roast intensity of a porter.
Appearance. Dark reddish-brown to deep mahogany (approximately 18-22 SRM). Pours with a distinct, persistent cinnamon-tinted (light tan) foam head and good clarity.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring sweet malt notes of toffee, toasted nuts, and milk chocolate. Subtle fruity esters reminiscent of dark stone fruits and plum are present, accompanied by a very low, nearly imperceptible earthy hop character.
Taste. Initial malt sweetness leads with caramel and biscuity flavors, quickly followed by layers of mild coffee, licorice, and prune. Hop bitterness is low to medium-low, providing a malt-forward balance. The finish is well-attenuated, starting sweet and resolving into a dry, clean aftertaste with lingering nutty nuances.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Medium-low carbonation provides a gentle sparkle. Negligible alcohol warmth and no grain-derived astringency.
