Pulfer Brewery Orange the Yammer
This American IPA is a vibrant, fruit-forward sensory experience defined by a generous addition of bitter orange. The hop profile features the distinct coconut and tropical cream notes of Sabro alongside the bright grapefruit and lime of Citra. A foundation of wheat malt and oats, enhanced by the addition of lactose, creates a silky, lush backdrop that balances the firm hop bitterness. The result is a juicy, aromatic ale where intense citrus oils and pithy orange zest merge with a smooth, slightly sweet finish, offering a modern and fruity interpretation of the style with significant depth.
Appearance. Ranging from medium gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 7-9 SRM). The presence of wheat, oats, and fruit additions results in a noticeable haze. Features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity orange zest and citrus peel dominant. Supporting hop notes of coconut, cream, and tropical fruit from Sabro and Citra. A low, clean maltiness is present, accompanied by a subtle sweet milkiness from lactose and a light grainy character from wheat.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy orange and grapefruit. Hop flavors are high, showcasing tropical fruit, lime, and a unique creamy coconut character. Bitterness is medium-high but softened and balanced by the residual sweetness of lactose. The malt profile is bready and smooth. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering orange oil and resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably smooth, creamy texture derived from oats and lactose. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. Very light, integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.
