Moka Express is a decadent Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer built upon a monumental Imperial Stout base. Utilizing a complex grist of 14 different malts, it exudes deep layers of milk chocolate, toasted nuts, and a subtle liqueur-like warmth. The sensory centerpiece is the Sítio Canaa coffee from La Cabra, which imparts a refined, fresh-roasted bean character and a soft, underlying fruitiness. This oily, thick-bodied brew balances its intense roasted bitterness with a creamy chocolate sweetness, delivering a sophisticated profile that highlights the synergy between high-end Brazilian coffee and rich specialty malts.

Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to jet black (40+ SRM). Crowned by a dense, persistent dark tan head with oily legs and heavy lacing that clings to the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by fresh-ground coffee beans and sweet milk chocolate. Background notes of toasted hazelnuts, black cherries, and a gentle spirit-like warmth. Malt-driven aromas of espresso and dark-toasted bread are prominent, with minimal hop influence.

Taste. Initial impact of bittersweet chocolate and rich, velvety coffee. The Sítio Canaa beans provide a distinct milk chocolate and soft berry fruitiness. The mid-palate reveals complex nutty flavors and a hint of dark liqueur. Balanced bitterness from roasted malts and coffee offset the residual sweetness. The finish is long, smooth, and decadently coating with a clean coffee aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous; an oily, chewy texture that coats the palate. Low to moderate carbonation. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a pleasant glow without being harsh. Smooth and devoid of astringency.

Een enorme body, olieachtig en dik, taai, maar zeer zacht, verkregen uit maar liefst 14 verschillende mouten waaruit we voornamelijk veel chocolade- en nootachtige smaken hebben gehaald, met een vleugje likeur.

Wat deze creatie echter echt bijzonder maakte, waren de briljante, verse koffiebonen. Deze keer kozen we voor de fantastische 'Sítio Canaa'-koffie van de iconische Deense koffiebrander La Cabra. Deze schoonheid, geteeld door Denilson Corsi da Silva op zijn Braziliaanse boerderij 'Cerrado Mineiro', kenmerkt zich vooral door een zoet melkchocoladearoma, met een vleugje zachte fruitigheid.

We zijn erg blij dat we deze heerlijke tonen hebben weten over te brengen op ons #MokaExpress. Coffeeish' juweeltje. Geniet ervan.
