This Double IPA presents a vivid sensory tapestry, led by an intensive double dry-hop addition of Citra, Simcoe, and Nectaron Cryo. The aroma explodes with saturated notes of passionfruit, white peach, and resinous pine, supported by a lean, grainy malt base that remains unobtrusive. On the palate, the Nectaron Cryo delivers concentrated pineapple and stone fruit layers, while Simcoe provides a structural, earthy evergreen counterpoint. Despite its 8% strength, the beer finishes remarkably dry with a clean, lingering bitterness that encourages another sip, showcasing a masterful balance of modern hop intensity and high drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (SRM 7-9). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing. Slight haze is present, common in modern heavily dry-hopped versions.
Aroma. Intensity is high, dominated by a complex hop profile of tropical fruit, mango, and ripe peach. Distinct resinous and piney notes are present alongside citrus zest. Malt character is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy backdrop with a very light, smooth alcohol note.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors. Hop character is prominent, featuring layers of pineapple and passionfruit with a firm, resinous evergreen middle. Bitterness is moderately high and assertive but remains smooth without harshness. The malt is soft and supportive, leading to a dry finish with a long, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is moderate. Contains a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated into the finish. No perceived hop-derived astringency.
