This Belgian Dark Strong Ale presents a masterclass in complexity, enhanced by an eleven-month slumber in cognac barrels. The mahogany pour releases an intense bouquet of caramelized sugars, dark figs, and dried plums, seamlessly interwoven with the elegant, floral spirit of the cognac and subtle oak vanilla. On the palate, a rich, bready-toasty malt foundation supports deep layers of raisins and dates, while the barrel aging contributes a sophisticated vinous character reminiscent of fine French brandy. Effervescent carbonation cuts through the medium-full body, leading to a lingering, warming finish that balances sweetness with spicy phenols and a refined, spirituous glow.

Appearance. Deep coppery-brown with mahogany highlights (18-22 SRM); clear brilliance under a huge, dense, moussy head of persistent light tan foam that leaves intricate lacing.

Aroma. High intensity; rich bready-toasty malt and deep caramel layered with strong esters of prune and dried cherry. The cognac barrel introduces distinct floral grape notes, smooth vanilla oak, and a spicy, perfumy alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression of luxurious malt richness and dark fruit. Flavors of dates and figs meld with caramel, complemented by subtle black pepper phenols. The cognac influence adds complexity with oaky tannins and a grape-spirit mid-palate. Bitterness is moderate, providing balance against the malt, finishing moderately dry with a lingering warmth.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full, creamy body with high but smooth carbonation. A significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth reflects the 10% ABV without being harsh or solvent-like.
