Port Brewing S.P.A. Summer Pale Ale
This vibrant American Pale Ale captures the essence of a West Coast summer with a bold, resinous profile. A boisterous hop blend featuring Chinook, Amarillo, and Cascade drives a sensory experience defined by layers of pink grapefruit, tangerine, and a touch of ripe peach. The initial aromatics lean heavily into piney and dank territory, supported by a lean, neutral malt base that stays out of the way. On the palate, the hop intensity is front and center, offering a spicy bite and refreshing citrus dryness. It concludes with a clean, crisp finish and a lingering, pithy orange bitterness that invites the next sip.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (approx. 6-8 SRM). Features a moderately large, off-white head with excellent retention and sticky lacing. Clarity is brilliant.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring a complex bouquet of grapefruit, orange, and peach. Strong resinous and piney qualities provide a dank, fresh-leaf hop character. Malt is low and neutral, providing a subtle grainy support. Low fruity esters are present but largely masked by hop aromatics.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression with spicy and resinous notes. Malt flavor is low, offering a neutral crackery foundation that allows the hops to dominate. Flavors of tangerine, grapefruit, and pine are prominent. Bitterness is firm and moderately high, leading to a very dry, clean finish. The aftertaste is refreshing with a lingering citrus zest bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate-high carbonation. Smooth and crisp throughout with no harshness or astringency. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
