Think About It is a focused American Stout that pivots from modern trends to honor classic dark ale structures. By forgoing dry-hopping, the complex malt bill takes center stage, utilizing Roasted Barley, Chocolate, and Brown malts to construct a deep profile of espresso and bittersweet cocoa. Dark Crystal malt adds a layer of molasses-like sweetness that tempers the roast. The addition of Amarillo in the whirlpool provides a faint citrus nuance and a restrained bitterness, ensuring the focus remains on the velvety, roasted grain character. It is a robust, thoughtfully balanced tribute to the formative dark beers of the American craft movement.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent tan head that displays excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity roast leads with notes of dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee. Subtle hints of molasses and a faint, citrusy hop character from the whirlpool addition are present, supported by clean fermentation and low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is rich and malty, featuring prominent dark chocolate and espresso flavors. The middle palate reveals molasses and toasted bread notes, balanced by a moderate bitterness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering roasted grain character and a clean, smooth aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, somewhat creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a lively mouth-coating sensation. Features a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any harsh roast-derived astringency.
