A strong contender for our in-house favourite varietal purely on the basis of how adaptable it is, we've utilized this giant of the brewing scene on single hop showcases across the board, from DIPA to IPA, now it's the turn of a more sessionable effort, with us loading this DDH Pale Ale with the same dry hop charge as one of our big IPAs, bordering on DIPA territory. Featuring an insane 40kg, and with an ultra light sprinkling in the whirlpool; apricot, passionfruit and citrus notes are positively bursting out of this beer, before being reeled back in with a healthy balance of earthy pine bitterness. With everything wrapped up in a warm hug of our bespoke LA3 yeast strain, this is our love letter to one of the true superstar hops.UNTAPPD SCORE

POLLYS BREW CO - Since launching in early 2018 we have grown and adapted our setup to form a small but tight-knit team of ten running the day to day operations of the brewery.

Pale ale hopped with Columbus, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic and Talus. Size: 440ml ABV: 5.7%

We could honestly harp on about how much of an influence The Kernel were on our early beer experiences until we’re blue in the face; the simplicity of their beers and love of hops had a huge impact on the first beers that we pumped out of Polly’s stable very nearly six years ago, and their exceptional execution of always swinging and never missing was our measuring stick of how to make a consistent beer. Why not then, we thought, pay our own homage to one of the beers that set us on our path, whilst putting a thoroughly Polly’s edge on it? Riding Under imitates the Pale Ales gently sprinkled with Centennial and Idaho 7 that blew our minds all those years ago, but has been treated to our very much 2023 Polly’s techniques. Expect a pale ale that wanders that thin line between new school juice and old school pine, whilst being smashable enough to sink back in pints with pals. A perfect beer for the rapidly approaching festive season.

Some Colour – Pale Ale 5.7%

There’s just something about those beers that float that terrific line between pale ale and IPA strength. Full bodied without being too much, generously hoppy without being saturated; Some Colour falls in the same undetermined category as one of our most popular beers – Oh My. Is it too strong for a pale ale? Is it too weak for an IPA? Who cares, it’s delicious! Featuring a five way dance of hop varieties, this beer brings a gentle bitterness through a gradually increasing boil addition of Mosaic, before a whirlpool addition of Columbus, and then sets the palate alight with a serenade of juicy tropical notes thanks to hearty cold side additions of even more Mosaic, Galaxy, Citra, and Talus bringing the soft peach, tangerine, bubblegum and fresh cut citrus notes toremind you that this is very much a Polly’s beer in your glass.
