This American Pale Ale captures the essence of spring with a vibrant showcase of the Krush hop variety. Pouring a bright pale gold, it delivers an immediate sensory punch of freshly squeezed orange juice and nuanced tropical punch notes. The hop profile is front and center, driven by Krush's distinctive citrus and stone fruit character, supported by a lean, neutral malt base that provides just enough structure without adding sweetness. Clean and refreshing, it balances moderate bitterness with a crisp finish, embodying the modern evolution of the style while maintaining exceptional drinkability at a sessionable strength.

Appearance. Pale gold (approx. 5 SRM). Topped with a moderately large, frothy white head featuring good retention and delicate lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, consistent with modern hop-forward interpretations.

Aroma. Moderately high hop intensity featuring dominant notes of bright orange zest and sweet mandarin, complemented by secondary aromas of tropical mango and papaya. Low neutral, grainy-sweet maltiness provides a clean background. Fermentation profile is very clean with negligible yeast esters.

Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward, exploding with vivid orange juice and mixed tropical fruit flavors. Low grainy malt character supports the hops. Bitterness is moderate, providing a firm but smooth counterpoint to the fruitiness. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering citrus zest aftertaste that avoids any harshness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, enhancing the refreshing quality. No alcohol warmth is perceived. Very low astringency.

After amplifying the recipe up last year for a balls-to-the-wall DIPA version of our flagship pale, we’ve taken stock of what people are looking for in 2026 and have brought the ABV back down again, honouring Floret’s original ABV of 4.5% back when we first released it in 2022, but with a hearty lashing of one of our new favourite hops to work with here at Polly’s; the world-renowned Krush. Selected specifically for its tendency to impart a noticeable fruit cocktail kind of vibe to our beers, we’ve very intentionally gone with this hop alongside its classic Citra, Simcoe and Azacca bill to create a fruit crush of a pale ale, melding sweet fruits, berries, and a whole load of freshly squeezed oranges to create a banger twist on our flagship for 2026.
