This robust Imperial Stout pours like midnight ink, immediately releasing a fragrant bouquet reminiscent of a spiced orange cake. A substantial addition of rye malt provides a sturdy, grainy backbone and a distinct peppery spice that interplays beautifully with the prickle of ginger. Bright, aromatic orange zest cuts through the dense dark chocolate and espresso foundations, while a subtle, savory hint of caraway adds an intriguing botanical depth. At 10% ABV, the beer offers a plush, velvety mouthfeel where the citrus oils and warming spices meld into a long, bittersweet finish. It is a sophisticated marriage of roasty malt intensity and festive, culinary-inspired aromatics.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Features a thick, dark tan head with moderate retention and some lacing. High viscosity is apparent in the glass with visible legs.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and burnt grain. Distinctive spicy rye character is complemented by the fragrant, citrusy zing of orange zest and the sharp, warming scent of ginger. Low earthy and herbal notes from caraway and dark fruit esters like raisins are present.

Taste. Intense flavors of roasted malt, cocoa, and espresso provide a base for the specialty ingredients. The mid-palate features the warming, spicy bite of ginger and peppery rye malt. Bright orange zest provides a sweet, citrusy lift that balances the moderate to high bitterness. A subtle, savory caraway note adds complexity to the bready finish. Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and very chewy with a thick, velvety, and luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, avoiding any harshness.
