Ocean Road captures the effervescent spirit of the Australian Sparkling Ale, reimagined through a modern lens. While staying true to the style’s signature high carbonation and crisp attenuation, this expression introduces a vibrant layer of tropical New World hops. These hop-derived notes of passionfruit and citrus complement the traditional pome fruit esters of pear and apple. A foundation of clean, bready malt provides a smooth backdrop for a firm, refreshing bitterness. Despite its sessionable strength, the beer offers a surprisingly full mouthfeel before culminating in a bone-dry, spritzy finish that invites the next sip.

Appearance. Medium gold to deep yellow (approx. 5-6 SRM). Topped with a tall, frothy, and persistent white head with tiny bubbles. Displays brilliant clarity if decanted, though it possesses a soft, cloudy haze if the yeast is roused during the pour as is traditional for the style.

Aroma. Moderate intensity with a clean, balanced profile. Primary aromas of pear and red apple esters are layered with modern tropical hop notes of citrus and light stone fruit. The malt character is low and grainy-sweet, devoid of caramel, with a very faint, clean yeast presence.

Taste. Initial bready malt sweetness is quickly balanced by a medium-high hop bitterness. Flavors of tropical fruit and resinous New World hops take center stage, supported by subtle apple and pear esters. Highly attenuated and crisp, the beer finishes very dry with a lingering, clean bitterness and a faint minerality in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable fullness that belies its low ABV. Features high to very high carbonation, providing a prickly, mouth-filling carbonic bite and a spritzy texture. Smooth and well-attenuated with a subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
