Capturing the elegant interplay of brewery and winery, this Italian Grape Ale showcases a harmonious dance of rustic grain and noble fruit. Pouring with a delicate ruby-copper hue, it yields a fragrant bouquet dominated by the addition of 20% Sangiovese grape must during second fermentation, offering aromas of wild cherry, plum, and a touch of vinous spice. On the palate, the vinous Sangiovese character leads with a bright, red-fruit acidity, beautifully supported by a lean malt backbone and a bone-dry finish. Effervescent and sophisticated, this expression balances refreshing carbonation with a subtle, warming complexity.
Appearance. Deep copper to striking light ruby-red in color, approximately 14 to 18 SRM. Crowned by a pink-tinted, off-white head with moderate retention that leaves a delicate ring of lacing. Clarity is excellent, presenting a brilliant, sparkling appearance.
Aroma. Medium-high intensity aroma highlighting the rich, vinous qualities of Sangiovese grape must, characterized by fresh red cherry, wild strawberry, and a hint of earthy spice. The malt profile is extremely clean and restrained, showing low cracked-grain sweetness, while continental hop presence is virtually absent. The ester profile is clean with mild red berry notes and no diacetyl.
Taste. Begins with an elegant, dry, and vinous attack. Pronounced flavors of red currant, sour cherry, and plum from the Sangiovese must dominate, balanced by a subtle, cracker-like pale malt base. Hop flavor is absent, and bitterness is very low, allowing a soft, refreshing grape acidity to drive the balance. Finishes dry, clean, and crisp with a lingering wine-like tartness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a highly effervescent, champagne-like carbonation that lifts the fruit aromas. Exhibits a gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth from its 7.5% strength, accompanied by a very light, pleasant grape-skin astringency that enhances the crisp, dry finish.
