This American Lager features a creative twist, incorporating actual bread from a local bakery to replace a portion of the malt bill. Built on a foundation of Pilsner and Munich malts, the profile is defined by a gentle, crusty graininess and a clean character. The use of Žatecký poloraný červeňák hops provides a delicate floral and spicy counterpoint to the soft malt base. Despite the bready experiment, it remains a refreshing, highly-carbonated lager with a crisp finish and lower bitterness, offering a slightly fuller mouthfeel than typical for the style while maintaining the high drinkability expected of a pale lager.
Appearance. Medium yellow (3-4 SRM). White, frothy head with moderate retention. Brilliant clarity.
Aroma. Low intensity. Malt character is predominantly grainy and sweet, with a notable crusty bread note from the unique adjunct. Hop character is low, showing floral and spicy Saaz notes. Clean fermentation profile without esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Neutral palate with a crisp, dry finish. Malt flavors of fresh grain and toasted bread crust from the Munich malt and bread additions. Low bitterness (approx. 12-15 IBU). Hop flavor is moderately-low with a floral and herbal quality. Balanced evenly between light malt sweetness and a clean, bitter snap.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, providing slightly more weight than standard for the style. High carbonation with a noticeable carbonic bite. Very smooth with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
