Pivovar Mazák 2024 is a decadent Imperial Stout that showcases a luxurious sensory depth through its use of cocoa husks from the Herufek chocolate factory and aromatic vanilla. It presents an impenetrable black appearance topped with a dense, mahogany foam. The olfactory profile is intensely fragrant, leading with natural vanilla bean and dark cocoa over a foundation of espresso-like roasted malt and subtle dark fruit. On the palate, the beer is robust and velvety, balancing bittersweet chocolate and charred grain against a moderate bitterness. The 8.5% ABV provides a well-integrated, gentle warmth that lingers alongside a smooth vanilla-driven finish.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40). Features a thick, persistent, dark brown head with excellent lacing and visible viscosity.
Aroma. High intensity with prominent notes of dark chocolate and fragrant vanilla bean. Deep roasted malt character provides scents of espresso, burnt grain, and black licorice, supported by low dark fruit esters of plum and raisin.
Taste. Initial impression is rich and bittersweet. Intense flavors of cocoa and roasted coffee dominate, supported by a toasted malt sweetness. Medium-high bitterness provides balance, leading into a long, roasty finish characterized by a lingering vanilla sweetness and a touch of herbal hops.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth is present without being sharp.
