This vibrant West Coast-inspired Double IPA showcases a bold citrus-forward profile driven by an updated 2025 recipe. Infused with fresh grapefruit, the sensory experience is dominated by zesty pith and bright juice notes, harmonizing with the specific hop character of Amarillo and Ekuanot. These hops contribute layers of orange blossom, tropical papaya, and lime peel. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a remarkably lean and dry profile due to high attenuation and its gluten-reduced composition. This Alternative Grain Beer delivers a crisp, bitter finish that highlights the essential hop oils over a minimal, clean malt backbone.
Appearance. Deep gold (6-8 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent pink grapefruit, tangerine from the Amarillo, and a complex tropical-herbal mix of lime and papaya from the Ekuanot. Malt is very low and neutral, presenting a faint cracker-like quality. Clean fermentation without esters.
Taste. Initial impression is sharply citrusy and dry. Strong hop flavors of grapefruit zest and resinous pine dominate the mid-palate. Bitterness is firm and assertive, typical of the West Coast style, but remains clean. The finish is very dry and lingering with a pithy citrus aftertaste. Malt flavor is minimal, providing just enough support for the aggressive hopping.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, refreshing texture enhanced by the gluten-reduction process. Carbonation is moderate-high. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, well-integrated into the dry finish without being hot.
