Pivovar Antoš Solaris
This sparkling Grape Ale marries the delicate, floral essence of Solaris grape juice from Mělník with the distinctive, white-wine character of Nelson Sauvin hops. The sensory profile is defined by an elegant bouquet of gooseberry and tropical fruit, underpinned by a clean, neutral malt base that allows the vinous qualities to shine. On the palate, the Solaris grapes deliver refined notes of stone fruit and a subtle acidity reminiscent of a fine sparkling wine. At 7.5% ABV, a gentle warmth integrates beautifully with a bone-dry, crisp finish and high carbonation, creating a sophisticated and refreshing hybrid experience.
Appearance. 4–6 SRM. Pale straw to golden color with brilliant clarity and a lively, effervescent stream of bubbles. The white head is fine-textured with moderate to low retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Medium-high intensity with dominant aromatics of crushed white grapes, gooseberry, and passion fruit from the Nelson Sauvin hops. These blend seamlessly with floral and honeyed notes from the Solaris grape juice. Malt presence is low and crackery, while fermentation is clean with no notable yeast esters or phenols.
Taste. The initial impression is bone-dry and vinous. Flavors of ripe Solaris grapes provide a fruity core of apricot and peach, complemented by hop-derived notes of white wine and elderflower. Hop bitterness is low, providing just enough structure to balance the fruit juice. The malt is supportive and neutral, leading into a crisp, slightly tart, and very dry finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, prickly carbonation that creates a sparkling, champagne-like mouthfeel. A subtle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated into the light frame. Finishes exceedingly clean and refreshing with no astringency.
