Pivovar Antoš Draugr presents as a vibrant Fruit Beer, utilizing a Kveik IPA base to amplify its citrus-forward character. The sensory experience is led by an infusion of tangerine, which merges with the orange-like esters naturally produced by the Kveik yeast. This synergy creates a deep, multi-dimensional citrus profile, ranging from sweet mandarin juice to zesty peel. Modern hop varieties add a layer of tropical fruit complexity, while the underlying malt provides just enough support to balance the moderate bitterness. The result is a hazy, aromatic, and remarkably refreshing ale that showcases a harmonious integration of fruit and fermentation character.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7–10 SRM); hazy to opaque clarity with a thick, frothy white head that shows good retention and leaves persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity citrus-forward aroma; dominant notes of fresh tangerine zest and sweet mandarin juice. Complementary tropical hop notes of mango and pineapple are supported by distinct orange esters from the Kveik yeast fermentation. Low bready malt aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is a bright burst of tangerine and citrus pith. The fruit character is well-integrated with a moderate hop bitterness that provides structure without being harsh. Malt flavors are subtle and crackery, allowing the tangerine and yeast esters to lead. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, pleasant citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, smooth texture; moderate-high carbonation provides a lively, refreshing effervescence. Very light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no noticeable astringency.
