Pivovar Čestmír Red IPA 14
This Red IPA presents a vibrant fusion of specialty malts and New World hops. A base of light caramel sweetness and a whisper of roasted grain provides a supportive foundation for an expressive hop profile. Columbus, Mosaic, Motueka, and Kohatu hops deliver a complex bouquet of sweet oranges, wild forest fruits, and zesty lime, further heightened by the tropical punch of Galaxy. Despite its deep reddish hue, the palate remains lean and avoids any sticky heaviness, transitioning into a crisp, dry finish. A firm, inviting bitterness balances the moderate malt character, ensuring a highly drinkable and refreshingly aromatic experience.
Appearance. Deep amber to reddish-copper (14–18 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a persistent, off-white to light tan head that leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring sweet orange, passionfruit, and mixed berries from Mosaic and Galaxy, accented by the lime-zest notes of Motueka and Kohatu. Background resinous pine from Columbus. Low to moderate malt presence provides toasted bread and light caramel sweetness with a very faint, clean roasted note.
Taste. Initial impact of citrus and tropical fruit—orange, lime, and berry flavors. Mid-palate reveals a supportive toasted malt backbone with subtle caramel and a touch of debittered roastiness. Assertive medium-high bitterness that is firm but not harsh. The finish is notably dry and clean, leaving a lingering hop resin and berry aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, non-viscous texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp bite. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated. No significant astringency despite the use of darker malts.
