This Double IPA showcases the vibrant Superdelic hop variety, delivering an intense aromatic profile of tinned pineapple, kiwifruit, and distinct red lollies. A collaboration between Pirate Life and Bintani, it features a delicate water profile that highlights a golden hue and a gentle biscuity malt backbone. The use of Verdant yeast provides a subtle fruity foundation that supports the layers of juicy hop character from whirlpool and dry-hop additions. Despite its 7% ABV, the beer remains approachable with a pleasurably dry finish and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel, balancing high hop bitterness with clean, modern tropical notes and a refined malt structure.
Appearance. Golden color with a thick, persistent white head and excellent lacing. It displays good clarity with only a very slight, yeast-derived haze typical of the style.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit and candy notes, specifically tinned pineapple, kiwifruit, and red fruit reminiscent of red lollies. A supportive, clean, lightly biscuity malt character sits in the background alongside a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of tropical fruit and berry candy mirror the aroma. The bitterness is firm but smooth and pleasant, lacking any harshness. A light, clean biscuity malt character provides a soft foundation, leading to a dry finish and a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high. The alcohol provides a very subtle, well-integrated warmth without being solventy. No perceptible hop-derived astringency.
