Barrel Aged Saddle Up is a masterful cuvee of matured and fresh English Barley Wine, showcasing a sophisticated interplay of time and fruit. The aromatic profile is dominated by rich vanillin and resonant oak from extensive barrel aging, seamlessly integrated with a bright, tart cherry top note. On the palate, a deep base of toffee and bread from English malts supports complex layers of bourbon-soaked dark fruits and a whisper of oxidation. This velvet-textured ale balances its significant 11.3% strength with a lingering, vinous finish, delivering a memorable and deeply expressive sensory experience.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with ruby highlights (18–22 SRM). Features a low, creamy off-white head with modest retention and noticeable legs or viscosity on the glass. Generally clear, though the cherry addition may provide a slight, attractive haze.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich, bready, and toasty malt profile featuring deep toffee and caramel. Significant dark fruit esters like raisin and fig are complemented by a distinct fresh tart cherry aroma. Strong barrel-derived bourbon, spicy oak, and smooth vanillin notes are prominent, alongside a vinous, sherry-like oxidation from the aged components.

Taste. Initial impression is an intense malty sweetness with multi-layered caramel, biscuit, and toffee flavors. Ripe cherry tartness cuts through the malt, joined by dried plum and dates. Deep bourbon character and charred oak provide complexity. Bitterness is moderate and fades into the background, providing balance without being harsh. The finish is moderately sweet with a complex, warming alcohol and lingering cherry-vanilla aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, chewy, and highly viscous with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or burning. Very low astringency from the oak barrels.
