Pioneer Beer IMELO
This American IPA bridges the gap between traditional West Coast intensity and modern fruit-forward profiles. The oldschool backbone is defined by a firm, resinous bitterness and sharp grapefruit notes driven by the addition of Simcoe. This classic foundation is layered with a vibrant, contemporary bouquet of tropical mango and bright orange peel, courtesy of El Dorado and the Cryo Pop blend used for cold hopping. The result is a decidedly dry and aromatic ale where intense hop character dominates a clean, supporting malt base, finishing with a lingering, crisp bitterness that emphasizes its refreshing, lupulin-heavy nature.
Appearance. Medium gold with excellent clarity. It features a persistent, medium-sized white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of resinous pine and grapefruit. Secondary layers reveal tropical mango, sweet orange peel, and a hint of stone fruit. Low, clean, grainy malt provides a neutral backdrop with a very clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial punch of grapefruit and resinous pine leads to a mid-palate of mango and citrus zest. The malt flavor is low and neutral-grainy, allowing the high hop bitterness to take center stage. It finishes very dry and crisp with a long, clean, resinous aftertaste. Bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation enhances the dry finish. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, though it remains highly drinkable without astringency.
