This refreshing non-alcoholic Straight Sour Beer captures the essence of a Mediterranean summer with its vibrant limoncello-inspired profile. Brewed by PINTA, it features a bright, sweet-and-sour interplay driven by the addition of freshly squeezed lemon juice. A crisp foundation of pale malts provides a subtle bready backbone that balances the sharp, clean lactic acidity. Appearance. Very pale straw color (2-3 SRM). Pours with a large, frothy white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Appearance is somewhat hazy, likely due to the inclusion of real lemon juice and a wheat-based grist.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh lemon zest and squeezed citrus juice dominates the nose. A clean lactic sourness provides a sharp backdrop. Malt character is low and crackery, while hop aroma and fermentation byproducts like esters are kept minimal to favor the fruit.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean lactic acidity immediately followed by a sweet-and-sour lemon fruitiness. Low crackery and grainy malt flavors provide a brief support. Bitterness is undetectable, allowing the lemon juice to drive the balance. The finish is off-dry and crisp, with a lingering citrus tartness.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and very refreshing. Carbonation is high and effervescent, accentuating the acidic bite. Alcohol warmth is entirely absent. No significant astringency despite the high citrus content.
