This Alternative Sugar Beer, crafted as a luxurious Braggot, presents a masterful fusion of honey, fruit, and wood. The sensory experience is dominated by its twenty-four-month slumber in Willett Bourbon barrels, imparting deep oak and spicy whiskey notes. Hand-picked Madagascar Vanilla and toasted coconut create a creamy, decadent layer that complements the floral richness of the honey base. Blueberry adds a sophisticated, dark-fruit acidity, providing a necessary counterpoint to the significant residual sweetness. At 13% ABV, it offers a profound, integrated warmth, while the mouthfeel remains velvety and viscous. It is an opulent, slow-sipping beer where the barrel character and adjuncts harmonize perfectly.
Appearance. Deep mahogany with dark purple-ruby highlights; opaque. It features a thin, tan-to-tinted collar of fine bubbles that recedes quickly, leaving prominent oily legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of spicy bourbon, toasted oak, and floral honey. Secondary notes of rich Madagascar vanilla bean, sweet macaroon-like coconut, and a subtle jammy blueberry tartness with no hop aroma.
Taste. Intensely flavorful; initial honeyed sweetness leads into complex layers of charred oak and vanilla. The toasted coconut provides a creamy mid-palate, while the blueberry adds a bright, slightly acidic edge. Very low bitterness allows the barrel tannins and alcohol to provide the primary balance. The finish is long and lingering with bourbon, dark berries, and honey.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous; creamy and mouth-coating. Carbonation is low. Significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a pleasant, slow-creeping glow without any harsh or fusel edges.
