Block Monsters is a vibrant Hazy IPA collaboration between Phantom and Pipeline, delivering a saturated tropical experience. The aromatic profile is dominated by the bright lime and lemon zest of Motueka, seamlessly blended with the grapefruit and mango characteristics of Citra. A unique addition of Manilita hops introduces deep layers of exotic fruit and subtle floral notes. The pour reveals a glowing, opaque appearance with a persistent white head. On the palate, a soft, bready malt base provides a velvety canvas for waves of citrus and stone fruit, finishing with a restrained bitterness and a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel typical of the style.
Appearance. Straw to light orange (4-6 SRM); opaque, hazy clarity with a luminous shine; large, white, meringue-like head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant lime and lemon-lime from Motueka; tropical mango and grapefruit from Citra; sweet orange and exotic fruit from Manilita; background of bready, grainy malt; clean fermentation with no diacetyl.
Taste. Massive tropical fruit and citrus flavor; initial lime zest and passionfruit; medium-low bready malt sweetness; low to medium-high perceived bitterness that is soft rather than sharp; off-dry finish with lingering tropical oils and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky texture; medium carbonation; smooth without any hop astringency or raw starch graininess; very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
