Phantom Brewing Co.

This Specialty IPA presents a striking juxtaposition between its midnight-black hue and a vibrant, modern hop profile. Driven by a trio of Citra, Nelson, and Superdelic, the aroma is a fragrant wave of pink grapefruit, crushed white grapes, and red fruit candy. The dark malt presence is masterfully restrained, offering subtle notes of toasted bread and light cocoa without the heavy char of a stout. On the palate, the hop-forward character remains dominant, balancing firm bitterness with a lean, dry finish. It is a sleek, refreshing take on the style that emphasizes tropical brightness against a clean, roasted backdrop.

Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony (approx. 35-40 SRM) with brilliant clarity at the glass edges. Features a persistent, creamy, light tan head with fine-textured lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring Citra's signature lime and grapefruit, Nelson's distinctive gooseberry and white wine, and Superdelic's unique berry and candy notes. Low malt character of toasted crust and mild milk chocolate. Clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial punch of tropical fruit and citrus hops, followed by a mid-palate of light-roasted malt, subtle coffee, and toffee. Citra provides orange zest while Nelson adds a vinous quality. Assertive, medium-high bitterness that never turns harsh. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering resinous and lightly toasted aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, almost velvety texture. Moderate carbonation provides a refreshing lift. Very low alcohol warmth and zero astringency from the dark malts.
