Imperial IPA 8 º
Big Birdie is a vibrant Double IPA defined by an explosive hop profile and refreshing complexity. The synergy of Mega Motueka and Citra delivers a bright citrus core of lime zest and grapefruit, while Nelson adds sophisticated notes of crushed gooseberry and white wine grapes. A subtle, creamy coconut and stone fruit undertone from Sabro rounds out the tropical intensity. At 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, supported by a lean, neutral malt base that allows the hop oils to take center stage. The finish is crisp and dry, leaving a lingering, resinous bitterness and a clean, fruity aftertaste.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper color (8-10 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with fine lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aromatics featuring zesty lime, grapefruit, and passion fruit. Distinctive white wine and gooseberry notes lead into a light, creamy coconut accent. Malt character is neutral and grainy in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Bold hop-forward impact with layers of tropical fruit, citrus pith, and melon. A moderately high bitterness provides firm balance against a soft, crackery malt backbone. The profile is clean and lacks harshness, finishing dry with a lingering white grape and resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, soft texture and moderate carbonation. A well-integrated, gentle alcohol warmth is present, providing a pleasant fullness without any hop-derived astringency.
