NEIPA - New England IPA 9.7 º
Magnétisme is a potent Double IPA that showcases an expressive Southern Hemisphere hop profile. Leading with the stone fruit and tropical intensity of Nectaron, the aromatics transition into sharp citrus and fresh pine notes courtesy of Waimea. A base of neutral malt provides a clean platform for the NZ Cascade to contribute its signature grapefruit and floral nuances. At 9.7% ABV, the beer carries a significant but well-integrated warmth that supports a dry, bitter finish. This profile emphasizes a modern approach to the style, delivering a saturation of hop oils while maintaining the drinkability expected of a premier strong ale.
Appearance. Golden to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Generally clear, though a very slight, modern hop haze is present.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of nectarine, peach, and tropical passion fruit from the Nectaron. Secondary layers of lime zest and resinous pine from Waimea are supported by the floral grapefruit of NZ Cascade. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy backdrop with a very light, smooth alcohol note.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors mirroring the aroma with heavy stone fruit and citrus. Bitterness is high but clean and devoid of harshness. A low, supportive malt character provides a soft, bready foundation. The finish is dry to medium-dry, leading into a lingering aftertaste of grapefruit peel and pine resin. Fermentation is clean with a light, smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, somewhat oily texture from hop saturation. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A noticeable but restrained and smooth alcohol warmth is present, with no harsh hop-derived astringency.
