This Imperial Stout collaboration delivers an opulent sensory experience, merging the signatures of Abraxas and Bomb!. Rich layers of dark-roasted Sump coffee and raw cacao nibs provide a decadent foundation of espresso and bittersweet chocolate. Aromatic cinnamon adds a sharp, warming counterpoint, while the earthy, dark fruit notes of ancho chilis offer a subtle, smoldering heat on the finish. Vanilla rounds out the palate, softening the intense roast and spice. The viscous, ink-black body reflects the massive malt bill, resulting in a complex profile where spice, bean, and malt harmonize seamlessly, finishing with a lingering, spicy-sweet warmth.
Appearance. SRM 40+; opaque, midnight black with a thick, creamy, mocha-colored head that leaves persistent lacing and demonstrates excellent retention.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent aromas of freshly roasted Sump coffee and rich dark chocolate. Secondary notes of woody cinnamon and sweet vanilla bean are complemented by a faint, earthy chili skin pepperiness and deep-roasted malt char, with no perceptible hop aroma.
Taste. Bold initial impression of espresso and bittersweet cacao nibs. The mid-palate reveals spicy cinnamon and a gentle, warming tingle from ancho chilis. Vanilla adds a creamy sweetness that balances the roasted bitterness and spice. The finish is long and complex, featuring lingering notes of dark fruit, spice, and toasted malt, staying harmonious despite the high intensity of ingredients.
Mouthfeel. Full, viscous, and coating body. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the velvety texture. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a smooth, chewy sensation without any harshness or astringency from the spices.
