Pentrich Brewing Co. Stone of Shame is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an expressive hop trio of Citra, Azacca, and Riwaka. This 8% ale leads with a high-intensity bouquet of bright citrus and tropical notes, evolving into a palate dominated by fleshy white peach and lush stone fruit. The malt profile remains intentionally restrained and neutral, providing a soft, supportive backbone that allows the New World hops to shine without interference. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a smooth, accessible character with a refined, subtle bitterness that deviates from traditional aggressive iterations, resulting in a clean and fruit-forward sensory experience.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a slight haze typical of modern dry-hopped versions; features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma where Riwaka and Citra provide grapefruit, lime zest, and passion fruit. Azacca contributes high notes of ripe mango and pineapple. A very low, neutral grainy malt sweetness sits in the background, complemented by light fruity fermentation esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and fleshy white peach. Hop flavor is complex and dominant, featuring tangerine and apricot. Malt flavor is low and clean, offering a soft bready hint; bitterness is notably restrained and smooth for the style. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering nectarine aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh astringency or solvent notes.
