This Double IPA delivers an intense sensory experience driven by a massive dry-hop profile featuring Citra, Azacca, and Riwaka. The sensory experience opens with a vivid bouquet of bright citrus and tropical fruits, specifically highlighting fleshy white peach and crushed lime. The Riwaka contributes a unique, punchy fruit intensity, while Citra and Azacca bolster the stone fruit core. Despite its 8% strength, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, leaning into a modern interpretation where hop saturation precedes aggressive bitterness. A lean malt backbone provides just enough structure to support the lush fruit character, culminating in a clean, fruit-forward finish that masks its significant alcohol presence.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (7–9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with fine lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, which is acceptable for modern heavily dry-hopped versions.
Aroma. High intensity featuring prominent New World hop characteristics: tropical fruit (mango, pineapple), bright citrus (grapefruit), and stone fruit (white peach). A neutral, grainy malt presence sits in the background. Fermentation is clean with very low esters and a hint of smooth, well-integrated alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors, mirroring the aroma with peach and citrus at the fore. Malt flavor is low and clean, providing a soft, bready foundation. Bitterness is present but notably restrained for the style, leading to a medium-dry finish. Hop flavor remains intense throughout, with a lingering tropical aftertaste and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. There is a light, restrained alcohol warmth that complements the richness without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency is present.
