Pentrich Brewing Co.

Jumbo King is a potent Double IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile. A massive presence of Citra drives intense notes of juicy orange and grapefruit, while Motueka contributes distinct layers of zesty lime. Nelson Sauvin rounds out the aromatic complexity with its signature white grape and tropical nuances. Despite its 8.5% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability through a lean malt backbone and a surprisingly gentle bitterness. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward experience that balances high-intensity hop oils with a clean, drying finish, exemplifying the modern evolution of the style.

Appearance. SRM 7-10 (Deep gold to light amber). Moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with fine lacing. Slight haze is present, typical of modern high-dosage hopping techniques.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus and tropical fruits. Citra provides heavy orange and grapefruit notes, complemented by the fresh lime of Motueka and the vinous, gooseberry character of Nelson Sauvin. Low, clean, grainy malt in the background; neutral fermentation profile with a hint of clean, well-integrated alcohol.

Taste. Strong hop flavors of citrus zest, tropical passionfruit, and crushed lime. Bitterness is firm but smooth, lacking harshness. Malt flavor is low and neutral, providing just enough structure to support the hops without adding residual sweetness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering impression of grapefruit peel and resin.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate to medium-high carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances the hop aromatics without being solventy or hot.
