This English Porter presents a refined sensory balance, led by the indulgent influence of chocolate malt and the silky integration of oats. Deep mahogany with a creamy tan head, it offers an aroma of toasted biscuits, soft cocoa, and a whisper of earthy hops. On the palate, the inclusion of oats provides a luxurious, velvety texture that softens the roasted intensity. Rich flavors of milk chocolate and caramel predominate, supported by subtle notes of dark fruit and toffee. It finishes remarkably smooth with a clean, gentle bitterness, avoiding any harsh burnt qualities while celebrating a robust and creamy malt complexity.
Appearance. Dark brown to nearly black (SRM 28-35) with ruby highlights at the edges. Displays a moderate light tan head with good retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring bready and toasty malt notes. Prominent chocolate malt character with secondary hints of caramel and toffee. Very low earthy hop aroma and subtle fruity esters reminiscent of dried plum.
Taste. Initial impression is malty and smooth. Dominant chocolate and toasted biscuit flavors followed by a light nutty sweetness. Low to moderate bitterness (approx. 25-30 IBU) provides balance without lingering. Finish is slightly sweet and very clean, lacking any acrid or burnt grain harshness.
