Patriarca Black
Patriarca Black presents as a commanding Imperial Stout, delivering a sensory experience defined by its deep, roasted complexity. The initial pour reveals an intense black hue and a creamy texture that carries bold, assertive notes of espresso coffee and bitter chocolate. While leaning into its robust malt profile, the palate finds harmony between these dark, roasted grains and a firm bitterness. Subtle hints of dark fruit esters emerge in the background, typical of the style, leading to a lingering, bittersweet finish. This beer’s velvety mouthfeel and rich character make it an ideal companion for decadent desserts like chocolate strudel or pungent blue cheeses.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Features a well-formed, dense, deep tan head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of roasted grain, specifically espresso and dark chocolate. Includes light esters of dried plums and a very low, earthy hop presence.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely roasty, following the aroma with heavy espresso and bitter chocolate flavors. Supported by a bready malt backbone and a medium-high hop bitterness. The finish is fairly dry and bittersweet with a lingering roast character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a chewy, velvety, and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a gentle, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated.
