Parallel 49 Filthy Dirty
This West Coast IPA delivers an assertive hop profile that dominates the senses with intense waves of citrus and forest resin. Abundant notes of zesty orange and ruby grapefruit lead the charge, followed closely by a deep, dank pine and delicate floral undertones. While the hop character is unapologetically bold, it is balanced by a subtle, clean malt sweetness that provides a sturdy foundation without cluttering the palate. The fermentation remains exceptionally clean, allowing the tropical nuances to shine through a crisp, dry finish. It is a quintessential expression of the American IPA style, marrying high bitterness with a bright, refreshing sensory experience.
Appearance. Medium gold to light amber (6–9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma characterized by bright grapefruit, orange peel, and resinous pine. Moderate tropical fruit esters are present, supported by a low, grainy, slightly sweet malt backbone. Clean fermentation profile with no diacetyl.
Taste. Assertive hop-forward initial impression. Dominant flavors of grapefruit pith, orange zest, and pine needles. The bitterness is firm and high but not harsh, well-supported by a lean, bready malt sweetness. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering resinous hop aftertaste and a touch of floral perfume.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, commensurate with the 7.2% ABV.
